Elly Hunt is a costume designer, craftsperson and stitcher working in the Southwest Colorado area.
She is currently designing Men On Boats for Thingamajig Theatre. Right now you can see her work as the Costume Designer for Creede Repertory Theatre’s Young Adult Outreach Tour, Best Foot Forward: El Mejor Pie Adelante on tour until November. Her other recent credits include craft work for CRT’s Pride and Prejudice, designing CRT’s Ripcord, working as design teacher and mentor for both CRT’s KID Show, Derring-Do! and their children’s design camp Heroes and Villains, as well as working as a stitcher for Lookingglass Theatre Company’s Mary Shelly’s Frankenstein.
Elly has been designing since her senior year of high school, and involved in all facets of theatre and sewing since early childhood. She studied Design and technology at the University of Texas at Arlington. Inspirational artists and designers include Salvador Dali and Elsa Schiaparelli.. Her true passion, however, lies in the collaborative process- making a designer's vision a reality, making a character "real" for an actor with their costume, or teaching new skills and creating opportunities for young artists; theatre is best done as a team.
